INFORMATION ON THE NATIONAL TRAINING COURSE IN KOSOVO

Aim and objectives of the training course:

- To deepen participants’ understanding of key concepts of human rights and their
applicability in youth work;

- To familiarize the participants with the approaches and activities of Compass and with
how best to use it in their daily context;

- To review and enhance participants’ competences (knowledge, skills, attitudes) in
working as trainers/facilitators with HRE in non-formal learning settings

- To associate the participants and their organizations with the priorities of the
Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe related to HRE;

- To facilitate networking and further co-operation between participants and their
organizations for human rights education;

- To motivate participants to advocate for human rights education.

 

Competences addressed by the course:

- Knowledge and understanding of human rights principles, associated values, as
well as history and philosophy of human rights

- The ability to run Compass activities, together with adapting them to their/their
organization’s context;

- Knowledge on different instruments for the protection and promotion of human
rights and skills in using them in the practice of HRE

- Skills in developing and delivering HRE activities taking into account the needs and
concerns of young people

- Understanding of current situation and challenges to human rights, with a special
focus on the national and local levels

- Knowledge of educational approaches in HRE and the ability to apply them

- Understanding of the key principles of non-formal education and its links with HRE

- The ability to network with other people and organizations/institutions involved in
HRE

- Knowledge on the Council of Europe and its work in the area of human rights and
human rights education

- The ability to work co-operatively

- The ability to translate human rights value framework into personal, social and
professional actions

- The ability to mainstream human rights education in youth work and youth policies.
